True to size

Owners report Marmot fits true to size overall, with the rain pants and some bottoms running slightly roomy.

On the core jackets, retailer fit data is one-sided: every Zappos sizing respondent for the PreCip rated it true to size, with owners noting room for a light layer underneath and some deliberately going up a size only to fit bulky mid-layers. Sizing-guide roundups agree that Marmot jackets typically run true to size and track other American outdoor brands. The soft spot is bottoms: CleverHiker's PreCip Eco rain pants review says the fit runs slightly big and suggests sizing down, and owner feedback on shorts and sweatpants echoes a somewhat generous cut. Cuts also skew trimmer on athletic-fit styles, so per-item reviews are worth a glance on slim-labeled pieces.

Sizing advice: Order your usual size in jackets and tops (go up one only if you layer heavily); consider sizing down in the rain pants and other roomy bottoms.
