The verdict

A cheap, breathable mesh short built for lifting sessions — solid pick if a short 5-inch inseam works for you.

Fit

5-inch inseam runs short and athletic; expect a fitted mesh construction typical of Gymshark's lifting shorts, and it may include a liner, so check the listing before buying.

Quality

At $12 this is Gymshark's entry performance tier — lightweight and functional, not built for heavy abrasion or long-term daily wear.

Price check

Genuinely budget for a performance short and fair value at this price point.

Best for

Lifters who want a short, breathable short for the gym floor.

Care

Machine wash cold and skip fabric softener, which coats and dulls mesh performance fabric.

What owners report about Gymshark shorts

Across Gymshark's shorts range, owners consistently report the fit runs true to size with a stretchy, comfortable waistband, and the heavier training styles hold up through repeated sweaty sessions and washes without issue -- one owner said a pair 'came out good as new' after three workouts and a wash. Quality is less consistent on the thinner, budget-priced lines: reviewers describe some shorts as feeling like 'a sandwich bag on your legs,' with logos peeling off after a single wear and fabric snagging into holes early on.

Strengths: Owners across multiple lines report the fit runs true to size with a stretchy feel that holds up through repeated sweaty workouts and washes.
Watch out for: The thinner, budget-priced shorts draw recurring complaints about flimsy, plastic-feeling fabric, snagged holes, and logos peeling off after a single wear.
Sizing: Most owners across the range report the shorts fit true to size.
