The verdict

A snug lifting short at a low price, best used as a base layer rather than a standalone piece.

Fit

Compressive, body-hugging cut typical of the brand's tight-short line; sizing should run true but expect a close fit through the hip and thigh.

Quality

Built as a stretch base layer rather than a structured short, with the brand's usual compressive knit performance expected at this tier.

Price check

At $12 this is priced as a basic compression short, a fair budget price for a simple lifting layer.

Best for

Lifters who want a compressive under-layer or a simple short for squat days.

Care

Wash cold with like colors and skip the dryer to preserve stretch.

What owners report about Gymshark shorts

Across Gymshark's shorts range, owners consistently report the fit runs true to size with a stretchy, comfortable waistband, and the heavier training styles hold up through repeated sweaty sessions and washes without issue -- one owner said a pair 'came out good as new' after three workouts and a wash. Quality is less consistent on the thinner, budget-priced lines: reviewers describe some shorts as feeling like 'a sandwich bag on your legs,' with logos peeling off after a single wear and fabric snagging into holes early on.

Strengths: Owners across multiple lines report the fit runs true to size with a stretchy feel that holds up through repeated sweaty workouts and washes.
Watch out for: The thinner, budget-priced shorts draw recurring complaints about flimsy, plastic-feeling fabric, snagged holes, and logos peeling off after a single wear.
Sizing: Most owners across the range report the shorts fit true to size.
