The verdict

Same logic as any Essentials collab tee: worth it only if the FAMU graphic is the draw, since $90 is mostly brand tax.

Fit

Expect the same oversized, boxy, dropped-shoulder fit as Essentials' other 90s tees; it will likely run large versus a standard crew tee.

Quality

A basic heavyweight cotton jersey construction typical of the line; the price doesn't imply anything beyond the brand's standard tee build.

Price check

At $90, this is top-of-category pricing for a plain crewneck tee; the cost is the collab and label, not the material.

Best for

FAMU alumni or supporters who want this specific commemorative tee and are fine paying collab pricing for it.

Care

Machine wash cold and hang dry to preserve the graphic.

What owners report about ESSENTIALS t-shirts

Reviewers describe the tees as heavier and more substantial than typical basics at this price point, which is called out as the line's main quality signal. The fabric is treated as delicate rather than tough: wash guides warn that heat from a washing machine or dryer can shrink the shirts, so hand-washing cold and air-drying is the recommended care routine. The cut runs boxy and oversized rather than fitted.

Strengths: The heavier cotton weight is repeatedly cited as the reason the tees feel like better quality than similarly priced basics.
Watch out for: The fabric is treated as shrink-prone under heat, so machine washing hot or tumble drying is flagged as a risk.
Sizing: The fit runs boxy and oversized; guides recommend sizing down one full size for a trimmer look, or staying true to size for the intended relaxed silhouette.
