The verdict

A woven athletic short with a structured feel; fair value for the upgrade from mesh.

Fit

The 7" inseam and woven construction create a crisp, fitted silhouette; typical Champion fit, runs true to size.

Quality

Woven synthetic offers better shape retention than mesh; Champion's sport-woven line is reliable for regular activity but not exceptional durability.

Price check

At $26.25, woven construction justifies a slight premium over mesh. Honest pricing for the tier.

Best for

Athletes who like a structured, crisp look in their athletic shorts without paying for premium finishes.

Care

Machine wash and dry on low heat; woven synthetics are forgiving but benefit from low-temperature care.

What owners report about Champion shorts

Owners are broadly positive on comfort for the price. Zappos reviewers on the 7-inch hybrid short praise the fabric as thin, light, and comfortable, and varsity-short buyers describe them as light and breathable with good workmanship. Cotton gym short buyers like the soft cotton and call them a good value. Walmart reviewers are more split on the budget styles, with some reporting the material feels thinner than it used to and the elastic wearing out within a year or two of light use.

Strengths: Lightweight, breathable, comfortable athletic shorts that most owners consider good value at their low price.
Watch out for: Recurring complaints on the cheaper styles are thin material and elastic that gives out after a year or two of wear.
Sizing: Most reviewers report the shorts fit true to size, though some say certain styles run large and one hybrid-short buyer found them shorter than expected.
