What actually differs between Carhartt and Carhartt WIP?

We compare Carhartt and Carhartt WIP on this site by price tier, and the two lines share a name and a duck canvas heritage. What the comparison cannot tell you is what changes in the garment itself when the price roughly doubles: the weight of the cloth, how the cut sits on the body, where the piece is made and how it is finished.
If you have worn both, this is the place to say what you noticed. A Detroit jacket next to a Detroit jacket, a chore coat next to a chore coat. Did the cloth feel different in the hand, did one break in faster, did the sizing move between the two lines, did anything fail on one that held on the other.
